Classes at Hazelrock House for 2019

Excellent news!

I have now set the dates for the first batch of lessons available here at Hazelrock House. We have soapmaking lessons, fused glass projects and mosaic projects.

All the lessons are stand alone. You don’t need to have completed any other lessons first.

The lessons run on a Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon but if these times don’t suit, please get in contact and I’ll try to accommodate you.

Thursday 17 January. Fused glass picture. Starting at 7 pm. Cost £40

In this lesson, you will make a piece of glass that measures 11cm x 11cm. You can use premade pieces available or glass scraps and frit provided. I will teach you how to cut glass safely, how glass fusing works and all about the types of glass we can use in our work. Your piece will be heated in the kiln to fuse the glass together. You will need to return (at your convenience) a few days later to mount your work in a frame and take it home. The class will last approximately 1.5-2hrs and costs £40

Saturday19 January. Melt and Pour Kids Class. Starting at 1pm – 4pm. Cost £5

This lesson is a drop-in class so you don’t need to be here the whole time. In it, you will make a lovely bar of moisturising soap using the Melt and Pour method. You will chop up the soap, melt it. colour it and pour it into a mould of your choice. You can then help yourself to juice and biscuits while you wait for your soap to cool. You will then wrap your soap up and tie it with a bow. It will take about half an hour to make your soap and you can turn up anytime during the session.

In this class, you will learn how to use Melt and Pour soap to make at least 4 bars of soap. We will explore several methods of fragrancing, colouring and moulding your soap as well as techniques such as layering, embedding and marbling.
