Little Glassy Stars

It’s never too early for a little Christmas cheer! Today I am teaching you how to make these gorgeous little Christmas stars. Small versions are perfect for hanging on your tree or you can make larger ones to hang in the window. They are so easy that they are perfect for beginners. You can make them in all sorts of colours and customise them to coordinate with any room.  I particularly love the multicoloured ones as they catch the glow of the lights.

Just follow the step by step instructions.

Cut a strip of glass 3-5cm wide.

Cut the strip into triangles. You can do this freehand like I’m doing or you can use a ruler or cutting system like Morton.

Once you have a little pile of glass triangles, you can start to arrange them for firing.

Usually, I do this straight onto the kiln shelf so I don’t have to move the paper afterwards.

Just arrange the triangles in the shape of a star, one pointing up, two pointing sideways and two pointing down. Make sure they overlap at the edges or they won’t stick together when fired.

Choose some gorgeous colours of course frit to add to the stars.

Now you can dot a few spots of glastac glue onto the legs of the stars.

Add the frit to the glue spots and keep adding until you are happy with how it looks.

Add more glastac if you think it needs it.

You can add a loop of copper or nichrome wire to the top of one of the legs of the star so you can hang it. Make sure that you add a small piece of clear glass on top of the copper wire to keep it in. If you prefer to drill the glass afterwards you can certainly do that instead. I hate drilling glass!

So here is the finished star before firing.

I use the normal full fuse Bullseye firing schedule for this.
